Escrow service is provided by American Gem Registry in order to provide confidence and security to both parties. The American Gem Registry will hold the funds in an escrow account until all terms of the sale have been met (as set forth in a contract between the Buyer and Seller) or until the sale is determined to be canceled.
Buyer and Seller

Buyer and Seller sign a contract agreeing to the terms of the sale. In general, terms include (but are not limited to) price, grading, timing, and any other information that is important to either buyer or seller. Once the contract is executed, both the stone and money are sent to the American Gem Registry.

American Gem Registry

At the American Gem Registry, we examine the stone to confirm that it matches the certificate and then forward the stone to the Buyer when the funds have cleared.

The American Gem Registry holds the funds until all of the conditions on the contract have been met. This usually means that the buyer has received and accepted the stone or has returned it in good condition within the required time. At the end of the waiting period, we send the money to the seller.

Canceling the Contract
If the Buyer refuses the stone and returns it to us, we examine it to be sure it's the same stone, and in the same condition as when it was sent. If it is, we return the money to the Buyer. If it isn't, we return the stone to the Buyer and give the money to the Seller. If the Buyer returns the stone after the end of the waiting period, we refuse delivery on the stone.
